Backyard Basics - Beginning a Garden: The First Steps
SUPPORTING HEALTHY LIVING THROUGH HOME-BASED FOOD PRODUCTION, PREPARATION AND PRESERVATION. The Backyard Basics is a new initiative that promotes healthy living by providing residents of Brazoria County information about the benefits of homegrown and homemade foods. Backyard Basics will provide consumers, backyard gardeners, homemakers, educators and farmers ?do-it-yourself? learning opportunities. Workshop topics include: Site selection, drainage, preparations for a garden, and soil considerations. How to build a raised bed with demonstration. Vegetables for the spring garden. One completed raised bed box will given away during the workshop.
